Starting out...

So I have decided to write a blog. It seems to be the cool thing to do. Who knows if anyone will read it though... What is the point of a blog anyway? To share what you are doing in greater detail? I mean, what are Facebook and Twitter for? Hmmm. All good questions. I guess that is the essence of Generation Y/Millenials. Information overload. A lot of sharing. I love it. I love FB, I am growing to love Twitter. I especially appreciate that I can "tweet". It just feels so fun saying "tweet". I don't know if I think I am a bird or what. I am twitterpated about it :) Ha!

So onto information overload. Do you really want to know what I am doing? Is that why you are reading? Or are you perhaps reading because you expect I will have some sort of funny anecdote? I am not sure why you are reading... heck, maybe you aren't sure either. I truly don't even know why I am writing! It is not like I have always wanted to write a book and this is my claim to fame instead... and I don't keep diaries. I find them annoying. Journals either. Journal is just a fancy word for diary so that boys can write in it. Or girls who don't want to sound like they are 13 years old. That being said, this is not a journal or a diary.

I would like to share the fun things that are going on in my life right now. I have a wonderful amazing daughter, Mackenzie, and an outstanding husband, Brad. We recently moved to Rolla from St. Louis, MO and have started a new life here. Brad took a job with the MIssouri State Public Defender last fall, I sold the house while he moved down here and stayed during the week, and then Mackenzie and I joined him in early February. I started work immediately (leaving awful Scottrade in the dust!) at the university. I was a temporary employee in the Office of Graduate Studies for 6 months or so. Today is actually my last day in Grad Studies. I have accepted and start a new position in the Career Opportunities Center as of Monday. I will be a Career Advisor. While at Scottrade, I was an HR recruiter, focusing primarily on interns. I worked on a team with my pal Chrissy and we created a knock out internship program (which we got little support or recognition on). I will be using my experience there to work in the COC, and I couldn't be more excited! Before Brad passed the bar and accepted a job here in Rolla, I had dreamed about getting into a Career Center at a local St. Louis college... unfortunately could not find anything. Boy did I luck out when I landed my dream job here! I think our families are slightly disappointed that now Rolla is seeming more and more permanent... however we are less than two hours away... it could be much worse (like if we had moved to DC like we had secretly talked about doing!)

Anyway, I think what this blog will be is what I deem interesting enough for other people to hear about in my life. Whether it be work related or family related, I think I am going to give it a try. We will see how it goes... I may fall of the face of the blogging Earth... or I may become fascinated with it and keep it up. I am not making any promises... but here's to hoping for a successful blog!
